Monster

I am going to skip all the criticisms against Donald Trump. Hope Hicks, who is a former fashion model and now reportedly one of the closest Trump’s aides, tested positive on Wednesday. Despite the test result, Trump stayed on his schedule but he was already seen ill on Thursday. Before he was sent to Walter Reed Military Hospital, he was already in the very concerning state even though he was taking Hydroxychloroquine. He received the authorized medications and unauthorized medications and he managed to show up to his supporters earlier today.

Not everybody is concerned about his health condition because he is the one who downplayed the virus effect and caused the social disruption. He once said almost nobody catches Covid-19. Now he successfully proved he is almost nobody. Since the beginning of the pandemic, he has been one of the few basis of the deniers to believe Coronavirus is a hoax as widely believed.

However, the reality is slightly different. American journalist Bob Woodward released the tape that recorded his conversation with Trump in March. In the conversation, Trump admitted Covid-19 is deadly stuff, but he didn’t want to cause a panic. In a way, deniers are the byproduct of sort of a panic, but probably Trump was afraid of the more violent type of a panic. Like usually seen in the macho type of a man, he was weak, but not entirely wrong. His weakness was that when his supporters started thinking Covid-19 is a hoax, he could not fix it because he was afraid of losing their support. I personally have been a blogger (not a president). I had my readers base but I felt the strong pressure to be as they expected me to be. This was one of the reasons why I couldn’t continue it as the image that they see on me was too self-destructive. This is why actors play different roles in every movie. Some of them fail in it and suffer a serious psychological issue. Maybe this is only my subjective observation, but I could see a sign that Trump tried it too. He tried to shift the focus of the public to the economy, and he tried to be remembered for his economic achievement.

However unfortunately While Trump was in hospital, the deniers departed from him. Over the weekend, their theory changed. Until last week, they believed Coronavirus is a hoax, and now they are believing Trump is a part of the play, and everything is set up. They were believing Coronavirus is fake news because Trump said so, but Trump was infected by Covid-19. They faced the existential crisis around Saturday. Some loyal fans wished him a speedy recovery, but some decided to hate even Trump. Facing the pandemic is this painful for them.

I’m going to skip all the praises to Trump. Here I just want to emphasize I’m politically neutral, and I don’t even have the right to vote in the US. Probably the deniers were the unintended byproduct of the early statement of Trump. However, they became one of the main spreaders of the infection. Now the death toll of the US is over 200,000, which is almost the double of India. Denying science, refusing face masks, and they are spreading the virus every single second. Denial is their only safe bubble. They feel like they own a control over the situation by refusing and denying the reality.

Sadly, they are also the victims. Victims of the disrupted society, which has always been there since before the pandemic. The disruption was often deliberately ignored and forgotten. Like an oppressed memory slowly causes one a psychological illness, the disruption was quietly spreading under the radar and erupted in this pandemic. Trump was merely a trigger. These people have always been abandoned, neglected, deformed in dark and now they are bringing their nightmares to the real world. Godzilla is described as a victim of war and nuclear. These people are also the victims of the historical war, its increasing budget to suppress social welfare, and the neglect of the historical governments.

Who created the monster ? It’s the historical governments. It’s the industries, it’s the voters, and it’s essentially, humans. Monster has a face as national deficit in economics, it looks like the endless wildfire in the forest, it has a face as an anti-masker on the street. Monster has many faces, but it’s the same thing.
